With aim to enhance water security and livelihood sustainability in coastal areas through participatory groundwater management (PGWM), a long-term programme has been conceptualised and implemented with technical support from ‘Arid Communities & Technologies’. 19 villages of coastal region of Abdasa block have been selected for this programme. These villages having 18,000 plus population covering more than 37,500 Ha of area. The population of cattle and other small animals is around 43,000. Major livelihoods of community in these villages are agriculture and animal husbandry.
