There have been great strides in the field of agricultural research and development of appropriate technology. As a result agricultural production has improved significantly.
VRTI has been has been sincerely working on different aspects to make agriculture technically and economically sound, environmentally viable and a sustainable means of livelihood.
Agri Clinic and Agri Business Training programme is a two moth training programme for agriculture graduates and post graduates including B.R.S, M.R.S and veterinary doctors (B.VSc.A.H).Under this programme we are facilitating the acquisition of managerial and technical skills by extension officers, managers,Scientist and Administrator in all sectors of agricultural economy to enable them to provide most effective support and service to farmers for practicing sustainable agriculture.This programme was sponsored by MANAGEHaidrabad.

Under this project we have established 37 vermicompost units in Kutch district with women groups formed by Govt. under SGSY program. Each unit was prepared in 400 square meter area with the cost of Rs. 60,000. Block wise distribution of vermicompost unit is as under:

Salinity and paucity of water is major problem for agricultural development in coastal area of kutch. We have started R & D activities at both centers i. Mandvi and ii. Naliyaya to help the farmers. Experiments of soil reclamation for improvement in productivity, introduction of saline tolerate crops like sugar beet, Barley, Napier grass etc. are main focus of our work. At Mandvi center water is having 9000 ppm TDS. In spite of that we are taking crops like oat grass, Lucerne, sugar beet etc. and horticultural crops like Chicku due to various experiments of soil reclamation. We are sharing the results with farmers so that they can learn about soil reclamation and its benefits.
